Is The Best Son From Kenya?

The Kenyan education system is partly to be blamed for the vague reasoning capability wielded by most of the Kenyan people. In the March 4th Elections, there was a great volume of evident tribal voting. most people hit the ballot and chose their leaders on basis of tribe. This lead to a incomprehensibly high vote count for Mr. Kenyatta.

This culture of ethnic voting has taunted the electoral process in Kenya for ages and may do so for ages to come. this is unless something is done in effect to rectifying the same. it is a responsibility of the Kenyan of today to ensure that the generation of tomorrow finds the wolrd a better place than the present day individual found it.

However, it is a fact which should be acknowledged by every right thinking individual that, there is very little an individual can do to shape the destiny of a country. It was with this in mind that Plato invented the electoral system of democracy. This was so that a people can come together to pick their preferred leaders and to reject those they deemed undesirable. It is with this principles in mind that we adopted this system of discerning the governors from the governed.

however, the principles which were held by Plato at the time of invention of this system have been corrupted in the present day world by many varied factors.

taking Kenya as a specified example, the factors which are used to pick a preferred candidate have been greatly taunted. Selfish ideologies have been instilled into the minds of the common voters by the elite that is basically after selfish gain.

this started back in the day even before the current voting generation was sane enough to be corrupt.

the education system is to blame for the poor choices the Kenyans make today. as a young Kenyan learner in the basic years of elementary education and to some degree secondary school education, the history of our country is filtered and the learners are only fed with that which creates in them an image of a wonderful country established on greatly morally upright principalities. it paints the politicians who took over leadership from the colonial masters as black Messiahs who meant the best for the country and at all times placed the interest of their countrymen before their own.

a perfect example of an individual whose image, as was hammered into our heads as young learners in elementary school, was that of a Nationalist who had been through thick and thin to see this country rise to freedom. at some point, i thought it sensible to weep for on august 8th 1978, Kenya had lost a hero.

looking back to these days, i almost slap myself for being Naive. In real sense, Mr Jomo was no nationalist but a selfish man who greatly applied the governing methodology termed as divide and rule.

unlike the selfless man i had been taught that he was, Jomo was an extremely selfish individual. the father figure in him is totally dismal and in its place is an arrogant and abusive man. he is one record for referring to Pio Gama Pinto, The Late, as a bastard in the house of representatives in 1964.

he was not at all a freedom fighter like the Mau Mau whom he victimized when he clinched power. as they were braving harsh conditions in the forests of present day central province to fight the colonial masters, he was dinning with the high and mighty and studying in prestigious European colleges such as the London School of Economics.

he was not a nationalist and uniting figure but a man who strive to marginalize Kenyans and deter unity at all costs. by denying them their right to regain ownership rights over the land which was initially theirs. and obliging them to sell him the land at throw away prices since this was just the inception of a money economy and evaluation of a property's worth in monetary terms was the least of the peoples' concern, it caused a scenario of wailing seller-willing buyer, unlike the willing seller-willing buyer which the books of history want us to believe.

he was also a man who had perfected in the art of betrayal and exploitation of other people. his first act of betrayal was on H.E Jaramogi Oginga Odinga. a man whom history fails to recognize as our founding father yet in real sense, he is our founding father. he had the opportunity to take this country and do with it as he wished but being a man of utmost goodwill, he opted to let Mr. Jomo Kenyatta be the man. once Jomo got into the driving seat, he played traitor and led Tom Mboya, his puppet cum think tank, into thinking that one day he would be let to rise to the highest state office. jomo used Mboya to eliminate his political competition and at the end dumped him.

In present day, Jomo's son is allegedly the president elect. A man struggling to uphold impunity into the justice system and tarnish the image of our beloved country in the international scene. He is faced with charges of crimes against humanity. To break it down to you, crimes against humanity, pursuant to the Rome Statute, include acts such as ;rape, discrimination on ethnic lines and even forceful transfer of persons. This essentially means that Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto are rape suspects if I may.

An illustration by Zapiro, a well known South African political cartoonist, gives a clear impression of what the international community thinks of us;

This is an embarrassment for Kenya as a nation. And for as long as the ethnic individuals, who hired this selfish War Lords to serve Kenyans, are thinking on the same tribal lines, then I will have to live in a state of denial for as long as they are in power.

Let it be known that, war without violence, is a type of war worse than the rest. They may think that Kenyans are peaceful but deep down in our hearts, the anger is boiling up and one day, one time, it will erupt. You can take that statement to the bank and let it earn interest.

Hat Trick

Kenya politics is taking a twist. Currently, politicians are hopping from one party to another as if it’s legal. It is constitutionally unacceptable to defect from the party that earned you entry to the House. However, Kenyan nationals have chosen to play dumb to such bad politics. It is a double edged sword which will sooner or later prove fatal to both the civilians and politicians. Just the other day, Hon. Mudavadi defected from Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). The party to which he belonged. The party which saved his face, back when he was the epitome of political mockery even amongst the most irrelevant of political circles.  True to the old say, Kenyans are very forgetful, and Hon.  Mudavadi is no exception. Very quick to forget.
It is funny how he chooses to be blind.  Hon. Mudavadi cannot be president of the republic of Kenya. It will take a drunken nation to vote for a man who has displayed such poor decision making skills. Surely, how do you defect from a party, then sit outside, partyless, waiting to make a decision on which party to join. That is utmost incompetence. The post of the president of the republic of Kenya is not open to chance. We can never elect a president on grounds of benefit of doubt. It is quit obvious that our next president is going to be the current Right Hon. Raila Odinga.
Actually, he has been our president since 2007, that was when he won the elections, as it I s alleged by his staunch supporters.
Another political bulldozer is Hon. William Ruto. Controversy is now his third name. Though as usual, Kenyans are a very forgetful lot. The maize scandal, hate speech, Hague cases, alleged land grabbing, and even alleged arson (the arson of a church during the post election violence skirmishes).  Despite all this, ‘my conscience is clear’ are his words.  Legally, it is one’s guilt that incriminates them. Hon. Ruto is not guilty, so technically, he is no criminal, but when it is all said and done, only he knows the plain truth. All we can do is hope that he will declare it publicly or put it in black and white before he goes to meet his Maker.
For a decade now, Kenya has had the most unique of all heads of state.
Hon. Dr
.  Mwai Kibaki. Never in a hurry to do anything, very ‘co-operative’, always willing to come to a consensus (migingo ni yetu, maji ni ya Uganda. How?) , and like the rest of the Kenyans, who are also responsible for his residence at the state house for a decade, very forgetful. Back in 2002, I was still young and naïve, but one thing that I can recall quite vividly is that our president was involved in a near fatal road accident. He was a presidential aspirant at that time and as usual, much was alleged. H.E the second president of the republic of Kenya Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi was alleged to be behind the incident.  All the same, not all hope was lost, Hon Raila Odinga was quick to act, and he took over the presidential campaign and led Hon. Kibaki to victory against Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta, who had the backing of former president. That was just what anyone would think would be enough to make Hon. Kibaki see the magnitude of influence that Hon. Raila wields. Oops! He is a Kenyan, so he did what Kenyans do best, he forgot.
Some time later, our beloved president ‘hired’ an assistant, First lady Lucy Kibaki. She literally run the country as the president was playing golf, or simply sipping coffee t state house gardens.  Controversy quickly caught up with her. Where on earth is she now? We miss her.
Enough for now, but more from my mind is yet to come.
